Back in 2007, I had the privilege of working on a Ferrari 250 GT SWB (short wheel base). I had to recreate a Ferrari SWB rear bumper that was missing, and you cannot buy these bumpers anywhere. I began by taking a pattern from an original and set to work with the aid of two valuable pieces of machinery called a Pullmax and an Eckold Shrinker/Stretcher. The 250 GT bumper had to be metal finished to an extremely high standard for chrome plating.
Check back for upcoming posts where I will expand on the details, from start to finish, on how to create this piece of ‘car art’.
