Into camping and having fun? Well, here she is… a 1970 Volkswagen Westfalia Camper bus that is need of a ‘freshen up’ which includes rust repair, weather stripping, trim, and paint.
The client was referred to us by way of the Porsche 914 GT conversion. This VW Westy was in definite need of some TLC, while maintaining a budget. The overall body was in fair condition omitting the rust areas, so body work was only going to take place around these immediate repaired areas, so essentially this paint job is going to be a ‘scratch and shoot.’
Along with the common metal work repair areas: doglegs, rocker panels, and rear corners, fiber glass repairs had to be taken care of for the pop top. New chrome, lens, trim, and weather stripping was installed for all the exterior parts. All this for a budget of $16,000 complete with parts and paint.
We went with the original factory color using PPG paint products. Follow the posts to see this VW Westy progress to completion.
