This 1959 Triumph TR3 automotive restoration project was assigned to us by Dukes Garage in Westminster, Colorado.  The post on Part One of this restoration shows before photos of most of the panels.  The Part Two post describes the complete restoration of the mouth panel, which holds the grill and headlights.

Next up is the restoration of the front left hand fender, you can see from the first few photos the condition in which the fender arrived from media blasting.  The body filler was so thick there was up to half an inch in places, so with a mask and grinding disc, we set to work on completing the dirty task of removing the filler.  After removing the filler, the true profile of the panel was revealed: an overstretched and decayed fender ready for metal surgery.  Following this, the next tasks were to cut out the incriminating over shaped area and  ‘wheel up’  fresh steel.  After TIG welding and metal finishing the panel looked as good as new.  One down, three to go!

The body of the fender was too far gone to shrink back to the correct profile. So we removed the damaged area as shown.
